The Patient Transfer Service (PTS) at St John offers a varied service, with specialised staff that place an emphasis on customer care and service. PTS offers a quality and competitive service responding to pre-booked and on demand calls. We work in the public and private sectors, in partnership with local hospitals, medical centres and care facilities, as well as the general public.

This role requires compassion and a sense of community spirit while you deliver routine care and transportation for non-emergency patients to and from healthcare facilities, clinics and private residences.

Some of the duties and responsibilities of the role include:

  • Respond to non-emergency transport calls in a prompt, professional and efficient manner
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, relatives, health professionals, and members of the public and other emergency services to ensure the best possible care for the patient is achieved

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge required

  • Current unrestricted ‘C’ or ‘CA’ class driver’s license with no more than 6 demerit points
  • Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003)
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Continuing Education Program

Training is tailored to ensure that relevant skills and knowledge are refreshed.

Roster

Full-time Transport Officers will be required to work an average of 42.5 hours per week across 5 shifts of 8.5 hours each, Monday to Friday. Weekly hours compromise of 38 ordinary hours and 4.5 reasonable additional hours.
