Our Volunteer Logistics Officers at St John Ambulance are responsible for a wide variety of duties. These duties are integral to the efficient delivery of various services across our major events in WA and the role works hand in hand with our Event Health Services team. 

Main duties and responsibilities 

  • To assist with vehicle movements between depots, vehicle maintenance and stocking to ensure vehicle’s operational readiness at all times.
  • To assist with the bump in and bump out at major events, including set up of marquees, set up of clinical areas and transportation of members.
  • To assist with towing of caravans and trailers (training will be provided).
  • To assist with general logistics to ensure that Event Health Services is operationally ready at all times.
  • To assist with general member welfare and support during major events.
  • Promote the vision, mission and values of St John Ambulance (WA) Event Health Services.
  • Support the state management team and operational teams to ensure the objectives of the organisation are met.
  • Ensure all communication is respectful and encouraging.

Skills you will develop

Being a Logistics Officer within the St John Event Health Services team will give you the opportunity to improve your vehicle movement and maintenance skills, give you exposure to event logistics and improve your ability to work autonomously as well as part of a larger team.

You will also form part of the St John Ambulance Event Health Services team at thousands of public events annually, and you will be part of a team that really makes a difference in people’s lives.

Recruitment Method

To become a volunteer with St John Ambulance Western Australia, you will be asked to complete an on-line application, including a medical questionnaire and submit a National Police check. The on-line application is available from: http://vip.stjohnambulance.com.au.

Ongoing training

All our volunteers are provided with the necessary training to enable them to carry out their role. To continue to operate in your role, you must maintain the competencies required and an appropriate level of fitness as roles are physically demanding.

Expenses

Your volunteering for St John Ambulance should not cost you anything. We will reimburse all legitimate out of pocket expenses incurred during your time volunteering with us. You should talk to your supervisor to confirm what expenses you can claim.
